The Ranger Trophy match racing regatta sailed in light fluky conditions. A great turnout with 14 skippers competing. We were able to sail 10 flights before sailing the best of 3 semi final and final runoffs. Polly Parratt and Glen Church sailed off in the final and although the former won 2-0 it was a close run thing. Glen with great upwind tactics was leading at the last mark in both heats, only to make contact with the final mark in the first and rounding in first place in the second heat, only to be run down by cJ333’s superior boat speed on the run to the finish line.
Thanks to race officer Rod Liddy for his efficient regatta management enabling us to complete 10 flights. Also the assistant race officers Ashley Glubb, Bob Torrie and Vern Rolton.
Polly Parratt was also the worthy winner of the Shamrock Trophy for 2022. The trophies will be awarded at the cJOA AGM on the 15th October.
