RACE OFFICERS REPORT, CJCOA CHAMPIONSHIP
Held on Saturday March 5th 2022 on Lake Victoria.
Race Officers: ROD LIDDY & VERN ROLTON
The day started with a gentle breeze, overcast sky and a temperature range of 12 – 20 degs. The wind direction was forecast to be a steady NE increasing to a maximum of 16klms which eventuated and proved to be ideal for the holding of this event.
A decision was made before the event started and after discussion that the event itself would be shortened to 1 full day of racing as opposed to 2 days described in the Notice of Race. I think this was a good decision and was reflected in a unanimous vote to do so by all in attendance.
The course laid out was a gate at the top mark followed by a single bottom mark with a port rounding required, this proved to be a good course for all and reflected in podium finishes for many. The course as well did not need to be altered from start to finish.
The event was sailed in good spirit and the very few on water indiscretions were quickly resolved and all moved on. The standard of sailing as I commented on at the end was of a high standard resulting in 16 heats being sailed almost seamlessly in blocks of 3 then a short (5 min) break between.
Well done to all and would be happy to offer my services for any future events such as this.
Regards
ROD LIDDY
